Converging literacy

The essential idea of transliteracy is concerned with mapping meaning across different media, converging meanings, media, and format.  Transliteracy is not concerned with developing particular literacies when using various formats – digital, media, mobile, social, visual. It is not about learning information literacy and text literacy and visual literacy and mobile literacy and social networking literacy and digital literacy in silos separate from one another but about the interaction, integration, and convergence among all these literacies.
